HERO Summits

HERO convenes stakeholders around issues that are unique to a specific industry, role, or organization size, including: the Healthcare Summit, the University Summit, the CMO Summit, and the Small & Midsize Business Summit. The Healthcare Summit and University Summit take place in conjunction with HERO Forum. As the newest HERO event, the Small & Midsize Business Summit was held for the first time in January 2023.

The Great Healthcare Resignation: Leveraging Employee Well-being as Part of the Solution

Tuesday, September 20, 2022

Stress, burnout, and workforce mental health needs have increased the numbers of caregivers leaving the bedside and the greater healthcare industry. And while pandemic-related stressors contributed to this attrition, they also put a spotlight on pre-existing issues. As the demand for health services grows, the supply of workers declines, creating an expanding gap. As healthcare organizations grapple with the staffing crisis, performance challenges, and cost of total population health, employee well-being is an especially critical component in retaining healthcare workers while attracting new talent.

Practical Health and Well-being Strategies to Engage and Retain the Small and Mid-Size Business Workforce

January 18, 2023

Workplace health and well-being (HWB) programs in large companies have received significantly more attention than those in smaller companies, as most of the research is focused there. Recognizing that most of all U.S. businesses are small to mid-size (SMB), HERO is committed to assisting SMB businesses in making a positive impact on their employees. The HERO Small and Mid-Size Business Summit will focus on practical HWB strategies that these employers can implement to better engage and retain their employees. The strategies will have a special emphasis on affordable best practices related to mental and emotional health, leadership and manager support of workforce HWB, and establishing and promoting a culture of health.
